How much does a project cost to support?
- $25 monthly: supports a high school student who plans to attend college. A student’s biography is available upon request.
- $50 monthly: pays the stipend for a care-taker who maintains a greenhouse, grows the vegetables, and prepares daily lunch for a school.
- $100: purchase textbooks and notebooks for 50 children at one of the TVP-sponsored schools. Currently, students often share a half-torn textbook and write on the dirt to do their homework.
- $175 monthly: provides health education materials and supports a midwife who provides Tibetan women and girls simple, but critical, life-saving reproductive healthcare and education.
- $300 monthly: helps to keep one village-based school that enrolls approximately 25 students in operation by providing teacher stipends and purchasing school supplies.
- $500 monthly: helps to keep one village-based clinic in operation by supplying necessary funds to purchase basic medical supplies and medications and hold health education and disease prevention sessions.
Facts
About The Tibetan Village Project
1.
The Tibetan Village Project (TVP) is a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to alleviating poverty through sustainable development
projects and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibet.
2.
TVP is operated by its volunteer board members and staff, led by Tamdin Wangdu,
the founder and executive director of TVP who is from Tibet and now lives in US.
3.
Overhead costs such as office space and office supplies are donated, and operational costs are covered by earned income through volun-tourism trips to Tibet and gift sales.
4.
All TVP donors receive monthly project updates by email and an annual finance
and project report at the end of each fiscal year. In this way, you - the donor
- know exactly what TVP has done with your money and the difference we, together,
have made in the lives of many Tibetans.
